This is exactly why Twitter Marketing is very important for any web site and / or business. If you don’t have a Twitter account for your website/company, you are missing out on HUGE traffic potential and of course… money. For Twitter Marketing Services click here.

Google has seen the writing on the wall and realizes the importance of social media and real-time search for both consumers, as well as for its business customers. Today Google announced that its Google Search Appliance will now be able to provide results from Twitter in addition to the traditional Google search results.

In a post on the Official Google Enterprise Blog, Google product manager Cyrus Mistry stated “Social information is important for businesses: employees searching for information needed to do their jobs benefit from real-time news too. They might be developing a new breakfast cereal, or designing a marketing plan for a clothing line, or writing strategy report for a political campaign. In all of these cases, understanding what is being said just as Twitter users are saying it can be invaluable.”

This is actually the first thing I thought of, but I am sure Google / Twitter will take this into consideration and put together an appropriate system to try and avoid this as best as possible. I don’t think Google is going to launch anything that will compromise the legitimacy and quality of their service(s).

They will find a way to weed out the spammers from the legitimate companies and users. One can only hope ;)

I doubt google will be able to do much about the spam.

They’ll depend on twitter mostly, and the only thing twitter has in place is a debunk/buffer feature where accounts that are tagged as possible spam accounts, ones with high frequency of tweets or those that send out repetitive tweets etc dont get included in search results as much.

Plus I think the fact that search results right now are primarily based on which user tweeted last is ridiculously flimsy.

Anything new will have it’s down falls to start, but over time these algorithms will improve, I rather start now than later. I pull a lot of traffic for many of my websites via Twitter. In order to prevent getting listed as a spammer, you cannot overwhelm your followers with constant advertisements, you will lose them and I am sure google and/or twitter will also be looking out for this as well.
